Imperialism led by the United States is in crisis, encountering resistance from peoples and progressive parties and organizations around the world. Therefore, in order for the United States to preserve its hegemony and the imperialist system as a whole, imperialism is moving to an aggressive offensive on all fronts. One of the main directions of the imperialist offensive is carried out on the information-ideological front.
Having destroyed the USSR and the entire socialist camp, imperialism is now waging an information-ideological struggle to destroy our memory, communist, Marxist-Leninist ideas, thanks to which the world’s first, powerful state of workers and peasants was created – the Soviet Union, which defeated the plague of the 20th century – German fascism and liberated Europe from Hitler’s occupation. Communist ideas have led and continue to lead the peoples of the world along the path of liberation from imperialist enslavement and oppression and along the path of building just, socialist societies.
The struggle of imperialism against our memory and communist ideology is manifested in equating communism with Nazism, destroying Soviet monuments, rewriting history (primarily the history of World War II), banning communist parties, communist ideology and symbols, depriving communists of their rights, persecuting communists, anti-fascists, and anti-imperialists.
Thus, a ban on communist and Soviet symbols is in effect in Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and restrictions on the use of communist symbols exist in many other countries around the world.
In the year of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, the European Parliament adopted a resolution equating communism with Nazism, socialist countries with fascist regimes, and placing responsibility for inciting World War II on, among others, the Soviet Union.
In the Czech Republic, the process of criminalizing communist ideology and the communist movement is underway, which will entail a ban on the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and drive communists underground.
Communist and Soviet monuments are being destroyed and vandalized in Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Germany. But Latvia is showing particular zeal. Over the past 3 years, the Latvian regime has been carrying out an unprecedented in scale and monstrous in its immorality and unscrupulous destruction of the Soviet ideological and cultural-historical heritage, primarily monuments. In total, hundreds of monuments have been destroyed in Latvia since the early 1990s!
After the counter-revolution in the USSR, Latvia, like most other former Soviet republics, was captured by imperialism and turned into its neo-colony. In order to suppress the resistance of the Soviet people and prevent an uprising against the actual occupation of the country and its plunder, imperialism began to plant nationalism and chauvinism in Latvia, spread anti-Sovietism and anti-communism.
The fight against the memory of the Soviet past, which in Latvia is shamelessly called the “period of Soviet occupation”, began immediately after the counter-revolution in the USSR. But after Russia launched a special military operation against fascism in Ukraine and US-EU-NATO imperialism, the destruction of the Soviet legacy has accelerated and expanded significantly. Having destroyed almost all monuments related to the Great Patriotic War and the Red Army, as well as those dedicated to Latvian revolutionaries and outstanding Soviet figures, the fascist regime of Latvia has taken up the barbaric, inhuman destruction of military burial sites.
As a puppet of the United States, their neo-colony, Latvia is not independent in its barbaric, anti-communist zeal, but carries out the orders of imperialism, which is waging a systematic struggle against the memory of the Soviet, socialist past, especially the nationwide resistance to fascism during the Great Patriotic War.
In order to enslave a people, it must first be broken spiritually, ideologically, deprived of its memory and will to resist. This is what imperialism is doing, destroying the Soviet ideological and cultural-historical heritage, carrying out de-Sovietization and decommunization.
We resolutely oppose this policy of imperialism!
We oppose the fascist, barbaric destruction of the Soviet ideological and cultural-historical heritage by the Latvian leadership!
We also oppose the attempts of the Czech leadership to ban communist ideology and the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia!
We are beginning the fight against de-Sovietization and decommunization, which is being carried out by imperialism and its puppets!
We declare that we will fight with all means available to us against the attacks of imperialism on our historical memory, against de-Sovietization and decommunization, against the revived and reviving fascist regimes!
We call on movements, organizations, and individual activists to join this just struggle!
