Grup Yorum participated in EU Parliament’s discussion on human rights and the situation in Turkey. Group Yorum talks at minute 10:08.

The case of Grup Yorum was handled at the committee meeting of the Subcommitte on Human Rights in the European Parliament on February 18th, 2020.
In the meeting Grup Yorum member Ihsan Cibelik was invited as speaker and he explained about the repression and bans his group was confronted during the past years. Cibelik gave information about the death fast and demands of Grup Yorum members Ibrahim Gökcek and Helin Bölek.
Ihsan Cibelik, who also mentioned about the period of prosecution, stated, that there hasn’t been a fair trial, that there weren’t any relevant facts, that could be considered as evidence, but only the statements of witness. He reminded that the trial was postponed to March 26th.
Reporter for Turkey, Nacho Sanchez Amor intervened to this issue saying “In Turkey everybody can be considered as a terrorist”.
Another guest to the commission meeting was Belgian lawyer Sibylle Gioe, who was a close follower of the trials against imprisoned lawyers of CHD and People’s Law Office.
Lawyer Gioe explained about the trials whe had observed and about the imprisonment of lawyers she got to know there. She also said, that from February 3rd, lawyers Aycan Çiçek, Ayşegül Çağatay, Aytaç Ünsal, Barkın Timtik, Ebru Timtik, Engin Gökoğlu, Oya Aslan and Selçuk Kozağaçlı have been hungerstriking with the demand of justice.
The meeting was held in Brussels and was attended by around 100 persons, who listened the speeches, among them deputies, who are members of the commission, assistants and representatives of civil society organisations.
