IDEOLOGICAL STRUGGLE IS NECESSARY TO WIN POLITICAL VICTORY (DURSUN KARATAŞ)

“US IMPERIALISM CANNOT SURVIVE WITHOUT BEING A WORLD SYSTEM.”

Who said this? One of the US Presidents, Truman.

What kind of world system will the US create? Through the occupation of minds!

Why through the occupation of minds? Because the brain is the command centre of the human being. It is headquarters.

The brain decides how we think, how we live, and how we fight.

The aim of imperialism is to capture our center of thought, our headquarters of struggle.

Imperialism does not hesitate to spend millions of dollars to occupy minds.

The occupation of minds begins with ideological bombardment and psychological warfare — that is, by constantly repeating the same lies and demagogy and by distorting the truth.

There is a saying: You cannot cover the sun with mud.

Imperialism knows this, yet it continues to try to cover the sun with mud in order to hide the truth. It never gives up, not even for a single day.

The Nazi German Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, explained how fascists occupy the minds of peoples as follows:

“Act by relying on people’s intellectual laziness. Tell lies — someone will certainly believe them. If you constantly repeat a discourse, people will forget where the lie came from and adopt it as their own idea. The bigger the lie you tell, the more effective it will be. Because people believe big lies more quickly than small lies.”

American imperialism also tries to occupy minds through the same ideology.

Yet, the sun cannot be covered with mud.

History is the struggle of classes.

That means it is the struggle of two ideologies.

It is the struggle of two classes — the bourgeoisie and the proletariat.

In this struggle, the bourgeoisie relentlessly attacks minds in order to maintain exploitation and domination. It attacks continuously.

Its entire aim is to establish dominance over our minds.

If we elaborate further on the methods imperialism uses to occupy minds:

Imperialism attempts to infiltrate our thinking by mixing up our knowledge, our history, our values, and our traditions — by confusing everything.

It changes the meanings of concepts.

It throws our thoughts into chaos.

It dulls our class consciousness, our class anger, and our consciousness of organisation — the cornerstones of our ideology.

Imperialism is presented as innocent.

Imperialist exploitation and wars are made to appear reasonable.

During the occupation of Iraq, sections of the left approved the imperialist occupation by saying “Neither Sam nor Saddam”. Today, the modern form of this is the justification for not opposing the policies of imperialism and Zionism aimed at subjugating the Palestinian people, expressed as: “Hamas is an Islamist organisation; we do not support Hamas.”

Imperialism carries out constant ideological bombardment.

It repeats a lie continuously — to the point of exhaustion and weariness. Repeating the same things constantly begins to pollute minds. Minds are turned into an imperialist rubbish dump. Within that dump, people emerge who say yes to everything imperialism demands — who wear what it tells them to wear and eat what it tells them to eat.

Within the left, imperialism produces crutches for itself. Imperialism attacks the left through the left. Suddenly, one sees sections of the left beginning to defend imperialism.

Let us go back to the 1990s… Those who most insisted that imperialism had changed and was no longer what it used to be were often those calling themselves leftists. They were the ones who carried imperialist lies into the minds of the people. They were the ones who showered socialism with attacks.

All of this was done to occupy minds.

Our minds are being bombarded regularly and systematically by imperialists on an ideological level. They want to suffocate us.

Today, this ideological bombardment is carried out largely through mass communication tools. They deliberately blur truth and falsehood.

Today, nine imperialist corporations are working to occupy the minds of peoples: Disney, AOL Time Warner, Viacom (owner of CBS), News Corporation, Bertelsmann, General Electric (owner of NBC).

Now these corporations inject Trump’s lies into the ears and minds of the peoples of the world from morning until night.

Wherever we turn, Trump appears before us. Media monopolies systematically repeat Trump’s lies.

For example, they destroyed Gaza, an area of 45 square kilometres. Now they claim that the US will bring peace to Gaza with a 20-point peace plan. They want everyone to believe this lie.

There is no peace at all.

There is the resistance and victory of the Palestinian people.

There is the Palestinian flag planted upon the rubble by the Palestinian people, declaring: “This is our homeland.”

WHAT DOES IMPERIALISM TARGET THROUGH IDEOLOGICAL BOMBARDMENT?

  • Our moral values
  • Our cultural values
  • Our historical consciousness
  • Our sense of solidarity
  • Our right to self-determination

It wants to make peoples accept the idea that “This system has always existed and always will.”

Imperialism says it is very powerful and that there is no idea worth dying for.

After all:

There is a wonderful single-polar world…

Are we not all in the same boat?

Is the world not one big village?

Have borders not disappeared?

There are no classes!

There are no peoples!

There is no homeland!

What is there to fight for…

Let us just live and go on…

But if you say this is not true, you become a terrorist!

You are forced to endure every kind of insult, humiliation, torture, imprisonment, oppression, and tyranny.

Why?

  • Because we say, “Down with imperialism.”
  • Because we say, “The only path is revolution; the only salvation is socialism.”
  • Because we say, “Let exploitation end and peoples be free.”

WHAT WILL WE DO?

  • We will continue to say what we say.
  • We will continue to call imperialism imperialist.
  • We will continue to say, “Down with imperialism; long live our struggle.”
  • We will continue to follow the path of Mahir Çayan and Dursun Karataş.
  • We will continue PASS defence.
  • We will continue to explain political realities.
  • We will continue to resist and to fight.
  • We will continue to wage ideological struggle against imperialism, reformism, and opportunism.
  • We will continue to be the hope of liberation for neo-colonial peoples.
  • We will continue to believe in revolution and socialism and to make peoples believe in them.
  • We will continue to say, “The only path is revolution; the only salvation is socialism.”
  • We will not compromise.
  • We will never lay down our weapons.
  • We will continue to follow Lenin’s path:

“Bourgeois or socialist ideology? There is no third way. Because a ‘third’ ideology (…) has not been created by humanity. Therefore, every belittling of socialist ideology, every deviation from it, simultaneously strengthens bourgeois ideology.”

(Lenin – What Is To Be Done?)

  • We will not forget that there are two classes.
  • We will not search for a third way.
  • We will not surrender.
  • We will continue to say, “Long live socialism.”
