The mortal enemy of the world’s peoples, U.S. imperialism, and its Middle Eastern gendarme, Zionist Israel, openly attacked Iran on 28 February 2026. In these attacks, Iran’s legitimate leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as many senior officials and commanders, were killed.
First of all, we extend our condolences to the Iranian people and affirm that we stand beside their legitimate resistance against imperialist attacks.
U.S. imperialism wages war on the world’s peoples today with the same methods it used 200 years ago. It occupies openly, attacks openly, and tries to spread fear. It is more reckless than ever before.
Why?
Let us start with Lenin’s fundamental thesis: “Imperialism is the decaying and dying stage of capitalism.”
No living being on the brink of death waits calmly; on the contrary, it thrashes about to survive, striking uncontrollably at its surroundings.
Trump’s recklessness and aggression, and the U.S. imperialist attack on Iran, are precisely of this nature. This aggression is a symptom of imperialism’s dying throes.
From a Marxist-Leninist perspective, this is not a “paradox” but a dialectical necessity.
The monopolistic structure that blocks the development of productive forces tends towards fascism to protect the status quo. Trump’s “America First” slogan essentially means “Profit for American monopolies first.”
In short: Trump is the captain of a sinking ship; instead of plugging the holes, he fires at them to try to keep the ship afloat.
As Mao emphasised, imperialism is strategically a “paper tiger.” The U.S. imperialist and Zionist Israeli attacks on Iran and the subsequent events demonstrate this once again.
Trump’s aggression is the result of the U.S. no longer being able to persuade the world, only to threaten it.
This attack arises from the painful gap between the “absolute rule of monopolies” and the “death of free competition” noted by Lenin. These attacks are not the saviour of the system but a loud proclamation of its bankruptcy.
From a scientific perspective, Trump is not a “cause” but a “result” of the general crisis of capitalism. The U.S. imperialist aggression is not due to Trump’s “madness” but a result of imperialism’s structural crisis and blockage. Trump’s madness is the expression of this crisis and blockage.
When imperialism can fully control the world economically, it dons the mask of “liberalism,” “democracy,” and “human rights.” The system functions smoothly; there is no need for force. But when profit rates fall and market share shrinks, the mask drops, revealing the apparatus of force beneath (militarism and chauvinism).
Lenin emphasised that one characteristic of imperialism is the parasitism of financial capital. A state detached from production, surviving only by lending and extortion, is essentially hollow.
In short: Trump is like a gambler who has lost almost all his chips but topples the table to scare everyone and seize the money. These seemingly “mad” moves reveal that the capitalist accumulation model can no longer compete with global rivals.
Thus, aggression feeds not on strength but on the loss of legitimacy of dominance.
The core of apparent recklessness is fear and weakness because the imperialist capitalist system has lost the ability to govern by consent.
Lenin emphasised that shifts in the balance of imperialist powers inevitably lead to “violent conflicts”: “The resolution of the incompatibility between the old power balance and the new is only possible through force.”
The U.S. is no longer the absolute master of a “unipolar” world and, as it loses power, begins to play “without rules” to protect its positions. Recklessness is the legitimacy crisis of a power that once set the rules but can no longer win by them.
In short: Trump is a giant on shifting ground; as he falls, he drags everything with him. That is why they say “the rules are over” at the Munich conference. The U.S. no longer needs international agreements, institutions, or alliances and is withdrawing from a total of 66 UN-affiliated and non-affiliated institutions. It no longer needs the “mask of democracy” and is pursuing profit through coercion.
Lenin said: “Revolutionary situations arise only where the ruling classes can no longer govern as before.”
Trump is the greatest global proof that the bourgeoisie can no longer govern “as before.”
“If in a place the shadows of small men grow large, the sun is setting there.” Today, the size of Trump’s shadow shows the sunset of imperialism. This is why the U.S. and Trump flounder. They try to prevent the sunset and the dawn of a new day, but in vain. No power can stop this decline, no power can halt the dawn of socialism.
After the Second Imperialist World War, when the red banner of socialism covered one-third of the world, imperialism, having failed with this policy, abandoned open occupations and turned to neocolonialism. Through neocolonialism, it created and deepened collaboration, prolonging its life until today.
However, today the deepening crisis and inability to export capital accumulation make prolonging its life impossible, turning it into a monster on its deathbed. Its gaze on unshared markets and countries it has not yet colonised explains its open attacks.
That is why it resorts to the Monroe Doctrine established 200 years ago.
History has shown that open attacks and occupations lead to national liberation wars, revolutions, and uprisings, where imperialism is inevitably defeated, as in Vietnam. Imperialism knows this but resorts to these methods to prolong its life.
As a proverb says, “If force enters through the door, law exits through the chimney.” Where economic competition ends, political brigandage begins.
In short, Trump is reckless because American hegemony is now a stage that cannot produce consent, only coercion.
He raises trade barriers because free trade now serves rising rivals (China, etc.), not U.S. monopolies.
He withdraws from international agreements because monopolistic capital views any legal bond that hinders its growth as a shackle.
He attacks immigrants because a scapegoat is needed to divert the domestic working class’s anger from the class enemy.
He roars like a “paper tiger” because powers that have lost strategic depth attempt to scare through tactical noise.
He wants to dominate countries like Venezuela and Iran because absolute control of raw materials is a matter of life and death for dying monopolistic capital.
He plays without rules because rules only work as long as the rule-maker wins.
In short, Trump’s recklessness is like a captain firing at the holes in a sinking ship; shooting cannot stop the rising water.
But “fear does no good against death.” No matter how aggressively American imperialism attacks, its historical life is coming to an end.
In this context:

THE U.S.’S RECKLESS ATTACKS SHOW US THAT IMPERIALISM IS COMING TO AN END AND GIVE US HOPE.

JUST LIKE IN LENINGRAD…
The Soviet people, led by socialists, resisted a 900-day siege in Leningrad despite hunger and cold. It was the socialists’ leadership that organised the people’s committees and councils, producing a plan and programme. Through the creativity and sacrifice of the people, fascism was defeated despite all difficulties. Out of three million citizens, one million died of starvation. The siege is recorded as the longest and most devastating in history, but the honour of victory belonged to the socialists.
How?
A PEOPLE’S WAR was organised under the leadership of socialists in Leningrad.
SOVIETS, i.e., PEOPLE’S COUNCILS, were established.
Defences were organised house by house.
Railway tracks were removed.
A 36,000 km defensive line of “dragon’s teeth” was constructed along potential tank routes.
The only passage, Lake Ladoga, was used to bring new supplies. Supplies from 350 km away were first ferried by boat and then across the frozen lake by truck; 350 trucks sank on this route.
OUR CALL TO THE IRANIAN PEOPLE:
