The hunger strike resistance of Direniş Gülü (the rose of resistance) Zehra Kurtay is approaching its 200th day. In order to publicize her resistance and support this honourable struggle, three initiatives were carried out across Europe.
1- HASHTAG
On Thursday evening, January 8, 2026, at 8:00 PM Central European Time, a hashtag campaign was carried out on X (Twitter). As a result of this coordinated effort, conducted within a pre-planned one-hour program, 3,700 posts were shared, reaching a total of 54,000 people.
2- EMAIL
In order to put pressure on the French Ministry of Justice and the court hearing held yesterday, January 12, more than 300 emails were sent over the course of one week from all across Europe, including from Great Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Sweden, and Greece.
3- PHOTO WITH PLACARDS
In this initiative, with the participation of more than 60 people, participants took and shared photos holding placards in French reading:
“Zehra Kurtay is on an indefinite hunger strike; grant her a residence permit / political asylum.”
These photos will later be displayed around the Paris resistance tent.
