The Franco-Kenyan summit, attended by Macron, marks France’s attempt to establish a logistical base in East Africa through a military presence and economic and financial penetration in Kenya. France is seeking new territories in which to develop its neo-colonial policy, which is now being challenged by the anti-imperialist resistance sweeping across various African nations. France has been driven out of the Sahel, where Mali, Niger and revolutionary Burkina Faso have courageously expelled French and US troops from their territory. Burkina Faso is beginning to forge a process of change and popular power, breaking with all imperialist democratic rhetoric and denouncing the nefarious role of NGOs.
Against this backdrop, Macron’s visit to Kenya and his arrogance at the conference are emblematic of French neo-colonialism, which uses corrupt governments and the national bourgeoisie—servants of imperialism—to rebuild a French neo-colonial presence in Africa.
The Kenyan people, alongside the Marxist Communist Party of Kenya, are at the forefront of the resistance against this latest neo-colonial interference. During the very days of Macron’s visit to Kenya, Kenyan comrades organised an international meeting to focus on the pan-African anti-imperialist struggle in Africa. The Nairobi government’s response was to indiscriminately arrest the communist and anti-imperialist demonstrators who took part (both Kenyans and members of international delegations).
This repression aims to create a climate of fear and terror that serves imperialism by preventing the building of resistance. This climate of imperialist terror manifests itself in the heart of the imperialist metropolises, just as it does against the peoples of the Global South, because terror seeks to conceal the crisis of imperialism…
