We are publishing the second book by Ayten Öztürk, a revolutionary prisoner from Turkey. In 2018, she was abducted in Lebanon by Turkish intelligence services and subjected to torture for six months in a secret detention facility. She was subsequently imprisoned for three and a half years, before being moved to house arrest—a development brought about by her own resistance and international solidarity.
Ayten is now back in prison, yet she continues to fight, remaining a symbol of unyielding resistance for many people across the globe.
Those who want to “leave me to rot in prison” are using every means at their disposal in an effort to destroy me. They too know that I will not disappear, and that even if I am physically destroyed, the truth will one day inevitably come to light.
Right now I may be alone in a cell. But I am not alone. I know that very well.
In every line I write, I am together with those I love, with my friends and with my people… I believe in the free days when we will all be together again. I draw this belief from the strength of resistance to injustice, from my people and from those I love so dearly. In the end, it is we who will win.
— Ayten Öztürk
