October 15 was another International Action Day in support of the hungerstriking and death fasting prisoners in Turkey.
The resistance in the prisons of Turkey continues for over 2 years to denounce and abolish the inhuman and unlawful implementation of S, R and Y isolation pit-like prisons. Around 15 prisoners already succeed to be transfered to other prisons without the systematical practice of isolation.
Right now there are 12 political prisoners in Turkey on an indefinite hunger strike, 2 of them extended their hunger strike to a death fast.
The 15th October was the 200th day of Fikret Akar’s indefinite hunger strike, therefore we reunited our forces to say:

ONE-DAY SOLIDARITY HUNGER STRIKE:
Following the solidarity call made for October 15, again 172 people in 8 countries have joined a one-day solidarity hunger strike.

SOLIDARITY ACTIONS IN FRONT OF EMBASSIES AND GENERAL CONSULATES OF TURKEY:
In support of the demands of the hunger striking prisoners, rallies were organized in front of embassies and general consulates of Turkey in different cities with the posters of Serkan Onur Yilmaz (on death fast for 339 days), Ayberk Demirdögen (on death fast for 218 days) and Fikret Akar (on indefinite hunger strike for 200 days)
UKRAINE – Kiev
The Ukrainian Communists and anti-fascists, political prisoners, brothers Mikhail and Alexander Kononovich, on 15 October went to the Turkish embassy in Kiev to support the political prisoners in Turkey, who are on death fast and indefinite hunger strike against isolation prisons.
The embassy staff first refused to accept the letter, but as in the previous case, the brothers said that they would not leave until the embassy staff officially accept the letter. In the end, they succeded to hand over their letter.
A call from the Kononovich brothers: “We call on all comrades around the world to support the political prisoners in Turkey.”
AUSTRIA – Vienna
In Vienna, a solidarity action was held in front of the General Consulate of Turkey by the Freedom Initiative for Political Prisoners and Resistance Council. Posters with the number of resistance days of Serkan, Ayberk and Fikret were displayed and some flyers with a call for action were spread.
GREAT BRITAIN – London
To support the day of action and the demands of the hunger striking prisoners, a rally was organized by the People’s Front near the embassy of Turkey in London.
NETHERLANDS – Rotterdam and The Hague:
The People’s Front Netherlands organized two gatherings in solidarity with the prisoner’s resistance in Turkey, in front of the embassy of Turkey in The Hague and the General Consulate of Turkey in Rotterdam.
During the protests statements were read and songs of resistance played.

GREECE – Athens:
In Greece, the People’s Front and Anti-Imperialist Front organized a solidarity gathering in front of the embassy of Turkey to once again support the demands of the revolutionary prisoners on death fast and hunger strike resistance.
SOLIDARITY POSTER ACTION
FRANCE – Marseille:
A solidarity action with the posters of the resisting revolutionary prisoners in Turkey was carried out by Secours Rouge and AIF Marseille.
SWEDEN – Gothenburg:
As Scandinavian People’s Front, the International Day of Action was supported with the distribution of leaflets in the center of Gothenburg, participation in the one-day solidarity hunger strike and sending an e-mail message to the Ministry of Justice in Turkey.
WISH LANTERNS AND BALLOONS
In some places wish balloons and lanterns were released to draw attention to the situation of the prisoners on hunger strike resistance.
FRANCE – Paris:
An impressive action of solidarity was held symbolically at the place of another resistance in Europe, the resistance tent of Zehra Kurtay, who is continuing her indefinite hunger strike for the right to political asylum in France for over 100 days.
Along with French internationalists, also the wife of political prisoner Fikret Akar, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 200 days against isolation prisons in Turkey, joined the solidarity action on October 15. Wish balloons were released after reading a press statement.
SWITZERLAND:
The People’s Front of Switzerland released wish lanterns in support of the death fast and hunger strike resistance.
GREECE – Athens:
In Athens there were also released wish balloons writing the names of all the political prisoners in hunger strike and death fast against the pit-type isolation prisons in Turkey.
FRANCE – Marseille:
Another act of International Solidarity from the members of Secours Rouge, who released wish balloons for the political prisoners in resistance to S,R,Y isolation prisons in Turkey.
E-MAILS AND SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS TO ADDRESS THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE IN TURKEY
To make the voices of the hunger strikers and their life-threatening health state heard, calls were made to send e-mails to the Ministry of Justice in Turkey and to share posts on X and Instagram, tagging the Ministry of Justice. (@adalet_bakanlik)
E-MAILS:
As to our knowledge, on October 15, a total of 202 e-mails were sent to the Ministry of Justice, calling the authorities to recognize the just demands of the prisoners on hunger strike and death fast and to end isolation torture in pit-like prisons.
SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS:
Throughout the day, there were also 75 posts shared on X and Instagram to support the demands of the death fast and hunger strike resisters.
