MILITANT CULTURAL EVENT WITH GRUP YORUM PARTICIPATION TOOK PLACE IN LIEGE

On January 31 in Liège, the Anti-Imperialist Front organized a militant cultural event as part of Coordination Résistances, of which we are a founding member.

We clearly reaffirmed our support for the resistance of the Palestinian people and the central role of culture as a form of resistance against oppression.

We held a stand, shared our anti-imperialist analyses and positions, and distributed leaflets throughout the evening. Despite a total strike in public transport, more than 300 people participated in the event.

We celebrated resistance through music with dozens of artists from diverse backgrounds: choir performances, Palestinian chants, South American revolutionary songs, rappers, poetry, stand-up, … The highly appreciated presence of Grup Yorum, an iconic group of revolutionary musicians whose 22 members are currently imprisoned, powerfully reminded us that organized popular culture cannot be silenced.

An exhibition was also on display, exposing the imprisonment of Palestinian children in Zionist prisons.

The evening also provided an opportunity for Coordination Résistances to present its activities since its creation just over two years ago: more than 200 street mobilizations, boycott actions, political education and training, militant cultural activities, and mass demonstrations, with the most recent one gathering over 5,000 participants.

Long live international solidarity.

Long live the resistance of peoples against imperialism and Zionism.
