Victory Statement of Zehra Kurtay about their Resistance for the right to Political Asylum and Residency in Paris.
A press conference was held today at 15.30 at the resistance tent of Zehra Kurtay.
Zehra Kurtay announced victory on the 219th Day of Her Indefinite Hunger Strike Against the Denial of Asylum Rights in France.
Zehra Kurtay, who began an indefinite hunger strike in Paris, the capital of France, against the violation of the right to asylum, achieved victory on the 219th day of her indefinite hunger strike on 5 February 2026 and suspended her strike.
In her victory statement, Zehra Kurtay said:
French imperialism, unable to reform me, sought to strip me of all my rights and hand me over to Turkish fascism. It sought to intimidate the people and attacked our fundamental rights. Through the policies it sought to implement, it attempted to sever our ties with the people.
We, on the other hand, declared that if there is an attack, there will be resistance, and we subjected our bodies to hunger.
We demonstrated that resistance against imperialism is possible.
What did we achieve? The return decision was suspended by the high court. Zehra Kurtay announced that herself and Nezif Eski who accompanied her with indefinite hunger strike for over 100 days, had suspended their hunger strike as of 5 February.
Zehra Kurtay announced that the resistance tent would remain open in the same location.
