On 21 January, a panel discussion was held in the Catalan city of Castellón about the Pit Type prisons, officially named S, R and Y Type prisons.
Thus, the voice of the free prisoners was heard also in Castellon.
The Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain considers the prison resistance in Turkey to be important. Therefore, they invited a speaker who is the comrade of Serkan Onur Yılmaz, and who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 385 days, and whose own husband has been on an indefinite hunger strike for 250 days. They wanted to learn about the resistance ‘first-hand’.
The representative of the Anti-Imperialist Front in Turkey made a presentation, as in the previous two cities Bilbao and Alicante. However, the overwhelming majority of those who came to listen to this panel were young people in their twenties. Therefore, in parallel with the PowerPoint presentation, the speaker went into detail about the events that took place before these young people were even born.
She gave a detailed account of the 19 December 2000 operation. And gave also detailed information of the Great Resistance (death fast resistance), that took place between 2000 and 2007.
The panel ended with a call to write cards/letters to prisoners on indefinite hunger strike. This was followed by a question and answer session.
