The 2 prisoners named
Sibel Balaç and Gökhan Yıldırım are in death fast right now. Sibel Balaç started on 19 December 2021 and Gökhan Yıldırım started on 25 December 2021.
The demands of these two prisoners are very legitimate and easily fulfilled. But AKP fascism in Turkey resorts to the method of “silent extermination” by silencing all the people with oppression, by killing the sick prisoners without treatment.
Political prisoners in Turkey did not and will not bow to this. Sibel Balaç was a teacher. She was sentenced to 8 years in prison for saying “I want my job back” and defending the rights of public workers dismissed by emergency.
Moreover, she’s a sick prisoner, having cancer in her ear. Her treatment is hampered and she is almost deaf.
Gökhan Yıldırım fought against drug gangs and mafia in his neighborhood. They arrested Gökhan in order to prevent his struggle, to silence his voice, to implement the imperialist project called urban transformation (centrification) and he was sentenced twice to 47 years in prison. One of Gökhan’s main demands is a “fair trial”. Both prisoners are currently on Death Fast against these injustices.
Let’s not let them be killed. For this, we request you to do 1 day solidarity hunger strike for Gökhan and Sibel, who are prisoners just like you.
Who can understand Sibel and Gökhan better than you? You know very well what it means to be a prisoner. You know from your own practice how difficult it is for a prisoner to carry his voice outside. Since this is the case, can you go on a one-day hunger strike “for the acceptance of Sibel and Gökhan’s demands”? Could you also write a short letter to Sibel and Gökhan so that they know that you are giving their voices a voice?

Also Musa Aşoğlu, political prisoner in Germany making 3 days hunger strike.
