For imprisoned fighter and comrade Polykarpos Georgiadis

On September 23 and 24, the so-called “anti”-terror police carried out an operation against three comrades. A few days later, the investigator decided to remand one of them, Polykarpos Georgiadis, in possession of explosives and transferred him to the Larissa prison. Polykarpos is a long-distance comrand. From the student movement to the class conflicts and the anti-fascist, anti-imperialist struggle. During his path inside the struggle, he has been twice imprisoned in the past, but has never stopped defending the Cause of People’s Revolution. Polykarpos is a comrade with particularly good ideological and political reflexes and political vigilance. Able to promote the idea of class struggle and consciousness, the idea of anti imperialism and communism in the internal movements in Greece. With his special humour and the multifaceted way of writing he has also managed to give a correct analysis of the ideological and political disorientation that affects the European movements after the fall of the USSR. Using his humility and unbridled curiosity for knowledge as a tool, he promotes the culture of continuing education and radical political readiness, that only can build the day after in the streets of class movements. A comrade inside the people’s struggle, he is a special part of his generation! His evolution inside the movement is an example for many people inside the class struggle. Polykarpos has a clear face inside the movement and inside the neighbourhood. He never hid and never backed down. That’s why the state’s dogs seek to isolate him.

Everywhere and every time, imperialism and its collaborator states seek to create profiles of “terrorists”, to tarnish the values and morale of the militants through the news bulletins, to degrade their personal lives and to “cook” their criminal personality. in order to deconstruct their popular and militant status. They know that the revolutionaries are the children of the people and that the people know them, trust them and will defend them at all times. That’s why they use all the tools they have in their hands to attack them. In many cases, however, as in the case of Polyκarpos, the contribution and voice of the fighters in the public sphere and in the democratic struggle is so resounding that it renders invalid the tactics of depoliticising the people of our struggle. At the time when the Greek police chose to attack our comrades, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo paid a visit to Thessaloniki and Chania in order to stabilise and deepen the military relations between Greece and NATO. Agreements were reached concerning the USNS Hershel Woody Williams, the newest naval base of operations of the United States, which will be permanently moored in Souda (Crete), the surveillance of land and sea borders and anything that entails the cooperation “which has its focus on the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. At the same time, in the center of Athens, the police forces were severely assaulting the memory and honour march for the resistance of the death fast in Turkey, the gathering of doctors and nurses demanding sustainable working conditions in the barbarity of the pandemic, the protest march for the visit to Pompeo and the students’ struggle of the schools of Athens, which to this day are occupied to protest against the overcrowding of the classrooms, the lack of teachers and the underfunding of education and the spending of huge sums of money on armaments and frigates. In all these struggles our comrades were, are and will be present in all ways. The enemy knows very well that the walls can not curb the sharp and free spirit of any revolutionary, any popular fighter, including Polykarpos. Polykarpos Georgiadis remains a free and very important part of the class, anti-fascist and anti-imperialist struggle and we will take care to promote his voice, as is necessary.
