The writing of history continues. We continue to write our history in blood. This history is the history of revolution written in blood.
Our revolutionary history in Turkey possesses original features rarely encountered in the history of world revolutions. With the Türkiye Halk Kurtuluş Partisi-Cephesi (THKP-C) (People’s Liberation Party-Front of Turkey), founded under the leadership of Mahir Çayan against the pre-1970 revisionism of the Türkiye Komünist Partisi (TKP) (Communist Party of TurkeyI), the path of the revolution in Turkey was redrawn. With PASS (Politicised Military War StrategyII), the revolution in Turkey set its feet firmly on the ground. And from that day to this, we have created countless traditions that constitute our history. A movement that has no traditions and cannot create new ones is doomed to disappear. At nearly every turning point of our history, we created a new tradition. From resistance against the junta, to the death fast against the imposition of the prison uniform, from initiating a process of advance and calling the enemies of the people to account at a time when, with the dissolution of the USSR, weapons were laid down across the world and the slabs of surrender under the name of peace were being paved, to expanding guerrilla warfare in the countryside and in the cities and resisting the State of Emergency (OHAL)1 — in countless examples we were creative.
Even our enemies were compelled to admit our insistence on Marxism-Leninism, saying, “everything has changed, even the name of Kızıldere2 has changed, only you have not changed.” The country in which we live is a new colony of imperialism. The world, meanwhile, is a world in which billions struggle with hunger and poverty under the domination of a handful of monopolies. We do not accept such a world. We shall build an independent-democratic-socialist world in which all peoples live together fraternally. Everyone may lay down their arms. Everyone may reconcile with the system. The point that distinguishes us lies precisely here. We represent the future. Marxism-Leninism says that the future of the world lies in socialism. We struggle in this direction.
They tell us to surrender. Massacres in Buca, Ümraniye, Ulucanlar Prisons, 19 December massacre, F-type cells, countless detentions, arrests, torture… The purpose of all these was to draw us within the limits of the system.
In this book there is how we withstood all assaults, the organisations we created in accordance with the specific character of each period, and the war we waged in the cities and in the countryside…
In this book there is our history.
Imperialism and the oligarchy seek to make the peoples forget their history. They seek to blunt the consciousness of the peoples, to take from them their capacity to think.
For that reason, we must learn our history.
Learning our history enables us to take firmer steps toward the future.
In this way we come to know our friends and our enemies.
When making decisions regarding the future, our history is our greatest adviser.
One who has no history has no future.
We shall shape our future upon the foundations we built in our past.
