Who are these two puppets?
One is Mazlum Abdi

Their master, the United States — who granted them these titles — put Mazlum Abdi into an Apache helicopter, flew him to Damascus, dragged both of them by the ears to a table, and made them sign a declaration.
They would work hand in hand to turn Syria into a new U.S. colony, a military base, and a force of war against its own peoples.
So who is this Ahmed al-Shara, known as Jolani?

AND A COLLABORATOR OF ZIONIST ISRAEL!
The President of the U.S.’s new colony, Syria, began his service to America in Iraqi prisons.
During his time in prison, he claimed he “turned toward moderate views”— meaning collaborationist Islamism.
He was introduced to al-Baghdadi and sent into Syria.
He was placed at the head of a gang fighting against Syria’s legitimate government on behalf of imperialism.
In 2017 he broke away from al-Qaeda and formed HTS.
Because of the massacres he committed in Syria — the beheading videos released by his gang — he was declared a terrorist, and his master, the U.S., announced a $10 million bounty on his head.
On December 8, 2024, the Syrian government was overthrown through the intervention of imperialist America and its collaborators. He was dragged by the ear and declared President of Syria.
He is nothing but a puppet—a servant of the U.S. and Israel.
And who is Mazlum Abdi?
He is the collaborator who turned the Kurdish people into soldiers of the United States, and transformed the Syrian Kurdish region into a U.S. military base.
With the help of two collaborators, Syria was turned into a regional economic, political, and military base for the U.S. and Israel. A collaborator was also cultivated in the Syrian Kurdish region—his name is Mazlum Abdi. The Islamist group ISIS, organized by the U.S., was unleashed against the Kurdish areas. The cooperation agreement was made under these circumstances: while one hand of the U.S. was orchestrating attacks on the Kurds, the other hand was supplying them with weapons.
This became the justification of the Kurdish nationalists:
“What else were we supposed to do if not cooperate with the U.S.? While we were under ISIS attack, the U.S. helped us!” Today, in the small stretch of land they call Rojava, there are 25 U.S. bases. In reality, one can speak of a Kurdish region only in form; in essence, these lands have effectively become U.S. territory.
The name of the other collaborator is Jolani. He, too, was cultivated by the U.S. Through the combined efforts of the U.S. and Turkey, this puppet collaborator was positioned as Syria’s head of state.
The U.S. sat its two puppets at a table and had them sign a declaration. The essence of that declaration was to transform Syria into the U.S.’s economic, political, and military hub. Under the Ba’ath Party, Syria had largely adopted an anti-imperialist stance, but now, through the U.S.’s collaborator puppets, it has become a new semi-colony—much like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and Israel—destined to be used as a force for America’s regional interests.
WHO IS JOLANI—IMPERIALISM’S PROTÉGÉ, THE KILLER OF THE SYRIAN PEOPLES, AND A COLLABORATOR OF ZIONIST ISRAEL?
Jolani is a killer fed, raised, and trained by the imperialist powers. His first involvement was with Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Between 2005 and 2006 he was arrested in Iraq and held in Camp Bucca. It was in prison that he was turned into a collaborator by the U.S. In his own words, during his time behind bars he “shifted toward moderate views.” The U.S. called this strategy of cultivating supposed moderation “moderate Islam.” At its core, it was collaborative, pro-American Islamism—much like the version espoused by Tayyip Erdoğan.
After his release, Jolani was appointed Al-Qaeda’s regional officer for Nineveh. In 2011, with the launch of the project to invade Syria, the Nusra Front was established under the sponsorship of al-Baghdadi.
Baghdadi, the leader of the gang known as ISIS, announced that the Nusra Front was also affiliated with al-Qaeda. In 2017, because the name “al-Nusra” appeared on terrorism lists, they were made to change their name to Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). They also publicly declared that they had severed ties with al-Qaeda.
Throughout this entire process, economic, political, and military support was provided by imperialism. Jolani consistently fulfilled his role as a loyal collaborator in the region. Through HTS, he carried out military attacks on Assad on behalf of imperialist forces. On December 8, 2024, the occupation of Syria by HTS took place. Jolani seized power in the name of imperialism.
Due to beheading people alongside his gang, broadcasting these acts to terrorize the public, committing rape, selling women, and carrying out massacres, Jolani was placed on the U.S. terrorism list with a $10 million bounty. The United States used this listing as a way to hide its own connection to these crimes. Now, however, a new image is being crafted for Jolani. The U.S. has removed him from its terrorism list. He is now referred to as Ahmed al-Shara. Jolani has become one of imperialism’s greatest collaborators in the region.
Jolani is now one of the key instruments of imperialist Middle East policy. Under Jolani, Syria serves the United States completely; it poses no threat to Israel—on the contrary, it is a form of security for it. With the declaration he signed together with the collaborationist Kurdish nationalist movement, the SDF, Syria under Jolani becomes a state that imperialism will use in the region, especially against Iran.
Even the U.S. openly acknowledges that Jolani is their own creation. Former U.S. Ambassador to Damascus Robert Ford recounts:
“As Roy mentioned, this man was originally in al-Qaeda in Iraq. I was also in Iraq in 2000. I began my post in 2003 and remained until 2010, after a 20-month leave to serve as ambassador to Algeria due to good conduct. Then Condi Rice sent me back to Iraq. At that time, this man—who is now the prime minister of Syria—was the one on the left. He was a member of al-Qaeda, a high-ranking commander in Mosul, in northern Iraq.
Americans who were in Iraq will remember that Mosul was one of the worst, most dangerous places. The State Department lost five diplomatic personnel in two different car-bomb attacks there. Many American soldiers were killed or wounded in the Mosul area by this man and his fighters.
In 2023, a British NGO specializing in conflict resolution asked me to help rehabilitate this man—to take him off the terrorist list and reintegrate him into normal politics. At first I was very hesitant. I imagined myself in an orange jumpsuit with a knife to my throat. But after speaking with a few people who had been there—one of whom had even met him—I decided to take the risk.
When I first met him, his war name was Abdulqader Jolani, but his real name was Ahmed Shara. He only revealed his identity to the world after his lightning offensive in December 2024, when he captured Damascus.
When I first met him, I sat beside him—just as close as I’m sitting to Roy now. I told him in Arabic, ‘Never in a million years did I imagine I would sit next to you.’ He looked at me—he had a long beard, wore a military uniform—and he said, very softly, ‘Honestly, neither did I.’ And we had quite a civilized conversation.
I’m sharing this because something he said struck me: he never apologized. Not for the terror attacks in Iraq or Syria—though there were fewer in Syria. But he did say this: ‘I now govern a region in northwestern Syria under opposition control. And I’m learning that the tactics and principles I used in Iraq don’t work when you have to govern four million people.’
That region had two million local residents and two million refugees from other parts of Syria—four million in total. He said, ‘I’m learning that to govern, you must make compromises.’ That impressed me. This happened in March 2023, a little more than two years ago.
We returned for a second visit in September. In January I went to Syria again and met President Ahmed Shara. When I saw him in the presidential palace I told him, ‘I never imagined I would see you here,’ and he smiled and said, ‘I like surprising you, Ambassador.’ He had a sense of humor.”
JOLANI IS A PUPPET USED—AND TO BE USED—IN IMPERIALISM’S DOMINATION POLICIES
There is no “before” or “after” for the collaborator Jolani.
Does he serve imperialism’s interests? Yes.
Does he protect its economic, political, and military goals in the region? Yes.
Wherever imperialism needs him, he will be moved like a puppet.
Germany’s former Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock met with Shara in Damascus at the beginning of 2024.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot visited Damascus together with Baerbock in January 2025.
Jolani addressed the United Nations General Assembly.
Dressed in a suit, shirt, and tie, the U.S. and European imperialists are refurbishing Jolani’s public image. During the period when the Assad government resisted imperialism, Syria was subjected to sanctions and embargoes; the moment the collaborator Jolani came to power, these measures were lifted by U.S. imperialism. The U.S. Treasury Department announced that the Caesar Act sanctions on Syria had been suspended. According to the statement, all sanctions under the Caesar Act—except for certain transactions related to Russia and Iran—were halted with this decision.
Imperialism is rewarding its collaborator. For the first time in 58 years, they made a spectacle out of having a Syrian representative speak before the UN Security Council. Because of its anti-imperialist stance, Syria had been excluded from the Security Council for 58 years. Today, the UN has become an institution of imperialism—there is room only for collaborators.
Jolani is Israel’s guarantee document in the Middle East. Since HTS came to power, Israel has been occupying the Golan Heights—territory it had failed to seize completely since 1974. Just 25 kilometers from Damascus, the entire region has been occupied and armed by Israel. The demarcation lines of the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement—the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone—have been fully occupied by Israel.
In his early days in the presidential palace, Jolani openly declared that he would not attack Israel and would not wage war against it. Those who come to power step by step through imperialist planning, training, and arming do not fight Israel. While the Palestinian people resist with 72,000 martyrs, murderous Israel continues expanding its occupation right next to Syria. Israel’s occupation in Syria is also a strategy to encircle Iran.
SDG–HTS COLLABORATION
A PARTNERSHIP OF SERVITUDE TO IMPERIALISM
One of the forces cooperating with Zionism in its encirclement of Iran is the SDF.
The SDF holds Syria’s richest oil territories on behalf of U.S. imperialism and acts as its paid mercenary force. At this stage, imperialism has seated the SDF and HTS at the same table and forced an agreement between them. According to statements from the collaborator Syrian administration, the eight-point agreement includes the transfer of all civilian and military institutions under SDF control—as well as oil and gas fields—to the Damascus government. Mazlum Abdi described the agreement as a “real opportunity for the reconstruction of Syria.”
The partnership between HTS and the SDF is an imperialist directive. To reshape the Middle East according to its interests, imperialism needs its collaborators to act together under the same objectives.
On November 10, Jolani met Trump at the White House. His master explained, one by one, what Jolani would do on his behalf:
The signing of a security agreement between Syria and Israel
Syria joining the coalition against ISIS
Integrating the SDF into the HTS army
On these three issues, Trump laid out Jolani’s roadmap, and Syria’s alliances were determined by imperialist decision.
Israel, through the Security Agreement, aims to formalize its de facto occupation; the U.S. is forcing Jolani to sign it.
Jolani’s first international visits were to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the United States—precisely the three countries that placed him in the seat of the Syrian presidency.
