2026 NATO Summit to Be Held in Ankara on 7–8 July
The 2026 NATO Summit will take place in Ankara on 7–8 July. The central item on the summit’s agenda is the establishment of a NATO Army Corps in Turkey.
What Is a NATO Army Corps?
In military organisation, a corps is a large formation composed of several divisions, typically numbering between 20,000 and 60,000 personnel.
A corps generally includes:
- Two to four divisions
- Armoured units
- Mechanised infantry
- Artillery regiments
- Air defence units
- Logistics formations
In other words, a corps is a major military formation capable of planning and conducting operations at the operational level of warfare. It possesses its own logistics, command structure, and specialised branches such as infantry, artillery, intelligence, and support units. Positioned between a division and an army in the military hierarchy, it is a large war-fighting machine capable of operating independently on the battlefield.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was established on the basis of the North Atlantic Treaty signed on 4 April 1949 by twelve states: Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Later, through the accession of twenty additional states at different times, NATO expanded to thirty-two members.
NATO is a military alliance of aggression. Since its founding, it has shed the blood of millions of people across the world, either through direct military intervention or through collaboration with proxy armies and counter-insurgency organisations.
What Does the Establishment of a NATO Army Corps in Our Country Mean?
Turkey occupies a strategic position, both geographically and politically. It is NATO’s furthest outpost stretching from the Caucasus to Asia and from the Middle East to Africa—regions that imperialism seeks to dominate and recolonise. It is also the country with NATO’s second-largest army.
The establishment of a NATO Army Corps in our country would mean placing the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), NATO’s second-largest military force, at the service of the United States, from the Caucasus to Central Asia, from the Middle East to Africa.
Across Turkey’s territory, there are already twenty-five United States and NATO military bases.
NATO means the United States.
The establishment of a NATO Army Corps, potentially housing up to sixty thousand troops, would amount to the effective occupation of Anatolia by imperialism.
To establish a NATO Army Corps means establishing a War Management Centre.
This centre would become the brain where wars are planned and directed.
The territory of Turkey would be used as a launching pad for attacks against the peoples of the world.
The imperialist programme of intervention and occupation throughout the world—particularly in the Middle East, Russia, Asia, and Africa—would be coordinated from Turkey.
The establishment of a NATO Army Corps in Turkey means turning it into an advanced outpost of imperialism.
We will not allow this!
Even if you turn Anatolia into an open-air prison for our eighty-five million people;
Even if you build hundreds of F-Type and Pit-Type prisons and fill them with revolutionaries;
We will not allow it to become a centre for the massacre of the peoples of the world.
Down with Imperialism!
Down with NATO, the Murderer of Peoples!
