From 06 June to 09 June a weekend dedicated to anti-imperialist and political prisoners took place in France.
The annual festival attracted many participants from abroad.
Organised by the AFA (Anti fascist action), the Festival lasted for a week. It opened with an exhibition on Monday, 02 June. Grup Yorum gave a concert for the opening of the festival.
The main international discussions took place on Thursday-Saturday.
On Saturday evening there was a concert with different music groups.
During the whole weekend topics related to anti-imperialism were discussed, including the Basque country, Ireland, the Caaucks, Africa, NATO and of course political prisoners.
PANEL ON POLITICAL PRISONERS
In the political prisoners panel, first a lawyer from ESP from Turkey take the floor. Then the representative of AIF took the floor. She spoke about the SRY prisons opened in 2021 in Turkey. In her speech, she mentioned the indefinite hunger strikes in which her husband also participated.
She said, that these prison types are the implementing of the policies of imperialism.
As a result of the policy of imperialism, such prisons were built all over the world, but only in Turkey collective and organised resistance takes places.
She emphasized that supporting the prisoners doing indefinite hunger strike is also a struggle against fascism and imperialism in Turkey.
Because Turkey’s fascism everywhere is doing the US’s henchman. Turkey fascism made the coup with HTS for the US in Syria. In Libya, Azerbaijan, etc.
Even the fuel for the Israeli planes that are currently raining bombs on the Palestinian people comes from Turkey.
That is why the revolutionaries fighting against Turkish fascism should be supported.
Mohammed Khatip from Samidoun also spoke about Palestine and Karabatan representative Filipinos.
The friends of Maya T., who went on hunger strike in Hungary because she was subjected to severe isolation and oppression, gave a short speech. Then a participant from Italy took the floor.
On Sunday a march and a football tournament were organised. About 1000 people participated in the march. It was organised in memory of an anti-fascist who was murdered by the police this weekend.
LATERN OF HOPE WERE LIT
During her speech, the representative of AIF called on all of to light lanterns of hope for the 10 prisoners currently on indefinite hunger strike.
Thereupon, at 16.00 in Paris, as in many cities in Europe and Turkey, the lanterns of hope were lit.
Panel in Marseille on June 6
A conference regarding political prisoners was held in Marseille on June 6. This weekend was dedicated to the prisoners.
Topics discussed included prisoners from Corsica, the Basque Country, and Ireland.
A video filmed by Şükriye Akar, the wife of Fikret Akar, who has been in indefinite hunger strike since March 30, was shown, focusing on the SRY types in Turkey.
International Conference in Corsica on June 9
On Monday, June 9, an international conference regarding political prisoners was held in Corsica, attended by 15 organizations and 50 participants.
The topic of the conference was “colonialism.” Representatives from Kanak, Corsica, Ireland, the Basque Country, the Philippines, and Turkey were present.
