Thousands of people demonstrate in Europe in support of the Palestinian people’s resistance

October 7, 2023, marked the anniversary of the Aksa flood. Fourteen Palestinian resistance groups launched a resistance operation against Israel. This served as a true litmus test.

Nothing would be the same anymore. Israel took this as an excuse and resorted to a ruthless extermination operation. It devastated Gaza, destroying hospitals, schools, and buildings, using Hamas as a pretext, and annihilating 90% of Gaza. Secretly, it is planning to rebuild Gaza and resettle Israeli settlers.

Now, Lebanon has also become a target of this extermination and occupation operation. As a result, on October 5 and 7, people around the world took to the streets to put an end to this brutality and express their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

There were protests in various parts of the world. The Anti-Imperialist Front had called for a demonstration on October 7 well in advance.

So the Anti-Imperialist Front and the People’s Front, participated in the marches organized in different parts of the world, besides thousands of people.

İTALY, Rome:

A demonstration was held in Rome on the anniversary of the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli massacre.

In the capital of Italy, Rome, a march was intended to be held against the massacre of the Palestinian people, urging the Italian government not to be complicit in genocide and to end all forms of support to Israel. However, this march was banned last week.

As a result of the efforts of the organizing committee, only a static action was permitted at Piramide Square, and a demonstration was held.

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, Palestinian supporters from all over the country faced numerous obstacles. Vehicles were stopped on the highways. Under the pretext of searches, the activists’ access to Rome was blocked. Some individuals were detained. Before the scheduled time of the action, all public transport in and around Rome’s main stations was halted under the pretext of a strike.

Despite these obstacles, approximately 5,000 people gathered in the square. All streets were closed off by police vehicles and riot police, preventing the march from taking place.

When the crowd decided to walk and began to push against the barricades, they were subjected to attacks from riot police armed with batons, tear gas, and water cannons. Despite prolonged clashes, the crowd was unable to carry out the march, and the action was voluntarily concluded.
