Pan-Africanism and anti-imperialism. What prospects are there today?
African communist and anti-imperialist delegations from Niger, Soudan, eSwatini, Kenya, Guinée-Bissau, Sénégal, Burkina Faso, La Réunion will speak at the conference.
One can be a Pan-Africanist without being a revolutionary, but one cannot be a revolutionary without being a Pan-Africanist. Far beyond a passing fad, the Pan-African struggle represents the project of emancipation and self-assertion for Africa, once and for all freed from the colonial darkness and its modernised versions.
The lucid ideas of Kwame Nkrumah set out in Class Struggles in Africa, those of the Cameroonian Osende Afana, those of the Congolese Pierre Mulele and so many others are once again on the agenda. Across Africa, there is talk of a struggle for a second independence.
Indeed, the deep crisis of Euro-American imperialism and its loss of hegemony offers unprecedented prospects that the peoples are gradually opening up. History is back on the continent. The titanic and heroic struggles of yesterday are being reborn in new forms today. What matters most is that the catastrophic course of events, as imposed by global capitalism, can have an outcome other than despair. As is often the case, despite all the dangers to be overcome, the struggles of the countries dominated by imperialism set an example for all humanity. The recent popular uprisings in Kenya, Sudan, Madagascar and Morocco, as well as the patriotic initiatives of the AES (Alliance of Sahel States), are the current expression of the new pan-Africanist affirmation.
A national conference to understand the anti-imperialist dynamics currently at play, to hear the visions of revolutionary African voices, but also to grasp the stakes and scope of the anti-imperialist struggles, here, at the heart of an imperialist metropolis that has written the history of its domination in letters of blood in Africa and continues to do so.
