HONOUR OF DEFEATING FASCISM BELONGS TO THE SOCIALISTS

“NOT THE ‘SECOND WORLD WAR’;

BUT THE SECOND IMPERIALIST WAR OF DIVISION…

AND THE VICTORY BELONGED TO THE SOCIALIST HOMELAND

WHICH FOUGHT THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR!

HONOUR AND SALUTE TO THE SOVIET PEOPLES

WHO WON VICTORY WITH 27 MILLION MARTYRS!”

The world marked the 81st anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War on 8–9 May 2026 — a victory embodying many profound moral values such as resistance, struggle, heroism, loyalty, sacrifice, love of homeland and love of the people.

In this article, through our subheadings, we shall address the lies told by imperialists and fascists regarding the war.

First and foremost, what we wish to emphasise — as stated in our title — is that this was not a “world war”, but a war of partition among the imperialists.

Their method and strategy were clear: following the First Imperialist War of Partition, fascist Germany — supposedly “disarmed” by the United States and Britain — would occupy the greater part of continental Europe. Thereafter, attacks and invasions would be launched against the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), with the aim of destroying the socialist homeland, the Soviet Union, and thereby extinguishing the hope of the peoples of the world…

Because the socialist system, while harming the interests of all monopolies, imperialists and their collaborator states, was at the same time giving hope to the peoples living under those systems.

And for these attacks, weapons were once again supplied to supposedly “disarmed” Germany by the United States and Britain.

That was the military aspect of the assault; there was also the dimension of industrial, technological, textile and other forms of collaboration and support.

Many US monopolies which continue to sustain today’s machinery of exploitation — including Ford, Coca-Cola, IBM, General Motors, Kodak, Standard Oil, Texaco, ITT, General Electric, Singer, Gillette, Kraft Heinz Company, Westinghouse, United Fruit, Universal Pictures and many others — collaborated with the fascist Nazis both before and during the war.

A few examples:

•          Volkswagen used prisoners from concentration camps as cheap labour for military vehicle production during the war.

•          Ford produced military vehicles and engines for the Nazi army throughout the war.

•          BMW, in addition to supplying aircraft engines and military vehicles, also used concentration camp prisoners in production.

•          IBM provided data-processing machines for population censuses in Nazi Germany and for identifying Jewish people and forcibly placing them into camps.

•          Siemens manufactured electrical equipment for the Nazis and also exploited concentration camp prisoners in production.

•          Bayer produced poisonous gases for Nazi Germany. Nor did it stop there; it also used people in concentration camps as “medical test subjects”.

The list of monopolies responsible for the imperialist war is even longer…

When and Where Did the Occupation and Attacks Begin?

The attacks of the fascist German Nazis — that is, the war — began in October 1935 with Italy’s invasion of Abyssinia. Yet the so-called “liberator” United States and its allies do not cite this date; instead, they present 1939 as the beginning of the war and wish it to be remembered as such.

These occupations and attacks were followed by the annexation of Austria in March 1938 and the occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939. Thereafter came the invasions, attacks and massacres directed against Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

And the “liberator” United States and its collaborators waited. What were they waiting for? Naturally, for the fascist Nazis to attack the USSR — in essence, socialism itself — to weaken and exhaust it, followed by the “victory of the monopolies”.

But events did not unfold as they had hoped…

Because a People Was Resisting…

The peoples of the USSR were resisting on every front — from north to south, from east to west — in the streets, forests, mountains and homes, with the Red Army, partisan units, and an organised people; they resisted with their history, culture and art…

Under the discipline and determination of socialist leadership, and with the slogan “FOR VICTORY”, the war continued against every hardship. The Soviets resisted with a people pledged to victory — from infants in cradles to the elderly.

At this point, we particularly wish to emphasise two places: Leningrad and Stalingrad.

The Siege of Leningrad

The siege, which began on 30 August 1941, lasted until 27 January 1944 — a total of 900 days.

Throughout the siege, more than one million Soviet people in the city of three million were martyred as a result of hunger, artillery bombardment, disease and freezing conditions.

Due to bombardment and artillery fire, 16,747 civilians were killed and 33,000 civilians wounded. More than 332,000 soldiers defending the city were martyred.

But the “heart” of the city continued to beat. Indeed, Leningrad possessed an uninterrupted heartbeat: the Leningrad radio continuously broadcast the sound of a metronome through loudspeakers across the city, announcing that the city was still alive.

When it beat 50–60 times per minute, it signified calm conditions; when it beat 150–160 times per minute, it warned of approaching attacks and bombardment. This “heartbeat” once again demonstrated how art could be used in war.

The Battle of Stalingrad

The attacks which began on 13 September 1942 continued for 182 days, until the fascist Germans surrendered in heavy defeat on 2 February 1943.

The Nazi armies seeking to seize Stalingrad suffered losses far beyond their expectations; the city became the graveyard of one and a half million fascist Nazi soldiers.

And here, for the first time, a German Field Marshal — Friedrich Paulus — surrendered despite Hitler’s orders and threats, together with 24 German generals, 2,500 officers and an army of 300,000 men.

During the approximately seven-month siege of Stalingrad, more than 1.3 million Soviet people died. After the battle, little more than 32,000 local inhabitants remained alive in the entirety of Stalingrad.

At the beginning of our article, we stressed that 27 million Soviet people were martyred.

Let us briefly reflect on this figure…

One can count to 90 in roughly one minute.

To count to 27 million would require approximately 450,000 minutes.

One day contains 1,440 minutes. 450,000 ÷ 1,440 = 312 days and 12 hours.

That means that if we counted continuously — without sleeping, eating or stopping — for 312 days and 12 hours, we would have counted approximately 27 million times.

That is the number of Soviet people who died in the Great Patriotic War.

And on the Other Side: the “Liberator” United States and Britain

The peoples of Europe owe gratitude not to the United States, but to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

As we have already stated, the United States and its monopolies were entirely aligned with the fascist Nazis in this war.

Their true hope, ambition and expectation were that the Soviets would collapse under these fascist invasions and attacks, thereby opening new territories for imperialist exploitation.

The USSR, which changed the course of the war, forced the United States and its “ally” Britain to develop new plans. One of these was the Normandy landings.

Through this, the peoples of the world are constantly told the lie that it was the United States and its allies who “saved the world”, rescuing humanity from evil, racism and fascism.

Yet the United States and its “allies” were never disturbed by fascism, racism or the massacre of peoples; nor could they be, because their class character does not permit it.

It must also be remembered that the Normandy landings took place on 6 June 1944 — nine years after the Nazi attacks had begun. This coincided with the period when the USSR was liberating occupied European territories one by one and advancing towards Berlin.

Although the United States declared war against the Germany–Japan–Italy alliance in late 1941, the Normandy landings were only carried out in mid-1944.

Let us make one further comparison:

The total number of troops landed by all the “allied” countries in Normandy was 1,332,000; the losses suffered by the United States and Britain amounted to only around 20,000 soldiers (according to official figures, US losses were fewer than 6,000).

Yet the United States is always proclaimed the “great liberator” which saved Europe from Hitler, whereas the Soviet peoples — who died 27 million times over, paid the heaviest price, had their lands plundered and their towns and villages burned and destroyed — are denied their rightful place in this fabricated history (!)

For example, in Belarus alone, the number of villages burned was 12 868.

Against the distortion of history and the erasure of the legacy created through immense sacrifice by peoples and socialist leaders — we stand firm!

The honour, pride and victors of the Great Patriotic War are the socialists: the leaders and peoples of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, together with the socialist and communist guerrilla movements and partisan units across many European countries who drew strength and hope from socialism.

THE HONOUR OF DEFEATING FASCISM BELONGS TO THE SOCIALISTS!

We too embrace this victory and celebrate the 8–9 May Victory Day of all anti-imperialist and anti-fascist peoples of the world, especially the peoples of the USSR.

Honour and salute to the Red Army which defeated fascism, to its partisans, to the commanders and organisers of the war both behind the front and at the front, and to Leader Stalin!

Long live Victory Day, 8–9 May 1945!
